2016 is the third year Kristina and I have pulled together something in the way of an erotica slam for this seaside event, and once again, we had a whale of a time. It’s a whole weekend of naughty kinky fun, with parties, workshops and of course sexy stuff on sale.
Things admittedly got off to a grey and slightly rainy start on the Saturday morning, when a bunch of us scooted down to the seafor a photocall – ‘how very fucking British,’ someone said, cheerfully. ‘On the beach, in the rain, a whole bunch of perverts!’ The theme for this year’s BFW was 999-emergency, and for once I had got as far as dressing up appropriately and slipping into the scarlet spandex minidress I hadn’t worn for a few years, plus party-shop nurse’s pinny and hat. Well, why the fuck not? I’d also written a flash piece especially for the slam, which I might shove up on here at some point. It features a chap who has to take himself to A&E for what might sound like a terribly embarrassing predicament.
Other delights that afternoon included all kinds of wonderful rope demonstration, plenty of it as hands-on as you could ask for, and some fabulous performers, including Coco Deville and Missa Blue. I do need to include a special shout out to DJ Fet, who not only provided a whole lot of rope action but also stepped in as an extra slam reader when someone else was unable to make it down to the coast.
Sunday featured an added-thrills version of the regular Twisted Market where I managed to sell so many books that I was swinging my near-empty suitcase by the handle most of the way up to the station.
Overall a thoroughly good fun weekend at the seaside, and extra thanks to Tina, Kristina, Juju Jezebel and Neil L for hugs and general niceness on Sunday when my hangover and stressing over stuff slightly got the better of me…
While the BFW is an annual event, there will be another Twisted market in Augustso why don’t you come and get yourself a bit of Brighton kink along with your Brighton Rock?
